Default ICE Question --- Which AMP for my setup.. please help asap

Right.. i want MAXIMUM power from what i have.

currently... i have 3 amps..

1: SPLX 1200W 2channel:

Size: 16.0 KB

2: Maystar QXT200 (700W):
Name: Myamp.jpg

Size: 12.9 KB

-- specs:

4ohm
2X100W RMS (400W MAX)

Bridged

1X350W RMS (700W MAX)

2ohm

2 X 160W RMS (640W MAX)

3: Maystar QXT500 (1000W):

-- specs:

4 ohm
4 X 45W RMS (360W MAX)
+ 1 x 160W RMS (320W MAX)

Bridged
2 X 140W RMS (560W MAX)

2 ohm
4 X 60W RMS (480W MAX)
+ 1 x 230W RMS (460W MAX)

For the fronts i have: Alpine 220W MAX/ 40W RMS coaxials:

For the subs i have: 2 X maystar 12"QXS Vi 650W MAX/325 RMS:
Name: mysubs.jpg
Views: 703
Size: 14.0 KB

What i want to know is what amp is the best for the subs and to power the fronts aswell.

At the moment i have the Maystar 1000W powering the 2 subs and the 2 fronts. But i was thinking to have the 1200W splx powering the subs and then have the maystar 700W to power the fronts.

I want this to be as loud as i can without spendin money!

Many thanks to all..

use the bigger amp to power the subs only and the other amp to power the fronts.

what have you got in the rear for tops - ie, 6x9s, etc.

as said, big amp to power the 2 subs (take it the rms figure is per sub there?) as thats about the same number. dont over or under power speakers, try to get a good match.
i always try to set the amp up so that if my head unit is at full volume i will not get any distortion at all from ANY speaker! i also stay away from using bass boost buttons etc.....
then use the 4 channel to run the 2 fronts and a good set of matched rms figured speakers in the rear,if you have 6x9s holes, thats good. also try to get the speakers angled (except subs as bass is not directional) towards you,i have angled rear speakers so that they fae forwards before and it was quite good. dont fall for buying gold plated everything, youll not really notice anything!
er....make sure the speakers are attached in the most solid way you can sort, this prevents the surrounding area moving, giving better sound,so mdf is a good base as it doesnt vibrate like some materials and can be quite thick, and sound deadening is another aspect to look into

cheers 4 that... i have just found out that 2/4 channels are fucked.. they mke the speaker crakle so i think i am going to whack the 1200W amp on the subs and then get the 700W amp on the fronts!

Next question is Parralell or series for the subs? at the moment they are in paralell and bridged over the 2 channels. will it be better if i were to put a sub on each channel or would they be louder if i were to wire them up on series over the 2 channels, or just keep tham as they are?

Cheers agen!

check the resistance that the subs can take, not all can take halving the resistance (ie 2 ohms) and this could cause a fire in ur car! if they are able to take a 2 ohm resistance then this will obviously make it louder but otherwise just use the speakers as one per channel.
with regards to your front speakers id seriously look into getting either a smaller amp or bigger speakers (from ebay or last years demo stuff from halfords etc...) as they are totally mismatched!the amp is kicking out twice as much power at the rms level as the speakers can give out, remember rms is what u should ideally look at,peak power is utter horse shit and means very little (its what they spike to occasionally),speakers can be cheap to get hold of so browse around, itll save you a lot of heartache,i promise! or....get yourself some 6x9s and run them off the amp (again get them paired up nicely) and run the alpines off the headunit as they seem pretty close to head unit outputs
are u just looking at massive noise or some clarity?

be careful with that as Big wig says.

I did this the other month a new amp i bought (was an ebay special) lasted 20 mins before I fried the fooker.

But then I was trying to run a 2ohm amp down to 1 ohm - sounded the bollox until i smelt something burning then my bass started to die down fookin fried it proper

dont forget to use really good power cables and low level well screened cable to keep noise out also make sure you have good terminations, you wouldnt beleve the difference exelent cables make to a system!

the installation, mounting materials, sound proofing etc is just as important as the components themselves, can make ALL the difference.theres a haynes type manual on it thats quite good and should steer u in the right direction, think they sell it in halfords, bit old,but speakers and cables are still speakers and cables and physics hasnt changed in the last 15 years that i know of,so go look there
