My rear arches and starting to bubble and abit of rust so i want to get some new arches.

Got a quote from my local bodyshop(this is to supply parts/materials and fit)
Labour £255.00, paint and processing materials £72.00

So all in all its going to cost me about £327, does that sound reasonable because ive absolutly no idea as ive never took any of my cars to a bodyshop etc

is that for both sides, all welded, not glassed etc, paint whole r/quarter?

All its got on the sheet is:

Repair details: remove rear trimand fit new rear arch parts to both sides.
Prepare, spray to match?

Seems abit vague doesnt it? is there anything i need to ask then like is it all welded and not glassed?

also im not sure if there painting the whole r/quarter because when i went round there in person to show them, he said they cut it out and the new part only goes up about 2-3inches from the arch, so theres no need to paint the whole r/quarter is there?

If he said cut out, that means wled not fibre glass, that line will probably need to go a little higher in reality. He is obviously only going to paint up to the swage line, acceptable if done nicely I guess...

still a cheap quote IMO, provided its all cut out and welded ...

Very cheap. You get what you pay for, if it is not done properly 12 months down the road it will reappear. The hard part is matching and blending in the new paint work with the old, if not done properly it will always be obvious that a repair has been carried out.

 

my dad had some work done there when some silver haired granny went into his pug and it seemed a good job(all under insurance )

 

If they dont paint everywhere once finished... ie inside behind trim panels, or actually underthe arch etc etc , for a proper job it all needs prepping and painting... ONCE it has been welded properly...

As above, you get what you pay for and I wouldnt want to do that job for 300 quid ... JUST painting both quarters would cost you that IMO
