Default Cars back :) ... no more little problem... (updated)

As a lot of you know i've had my car off the road since Christmas due to a goosed turbo and compression loss.... after stripping the engine down we discovered a piston was fooked...

A few months later, with a new turbo, replacement piston (Thanks again Tim), new piston rings, new pro alloy intercooler, new rad, new silicone hoses etc etc ect... we started the car today

Must say a MASSIVE thanks to Manchester Mike, he put a lot of time in and I wouldn't of been able to do it without him, i've learnt LOADS!!

HOWEVER now the problem.... the car is idling at 2000rpms... not sure exactly what is up... just seeing if anyone has had any similar probs... there is a slight hissing sound when I turn he ignition off... one thing i'm thinking is that the inlet manifold has a leak, hoping its not that as it was a pain in the arse as i've had to use a conversion plate supplied by oddkidd.

Must say its great to have it back and will be even better when this is sorted and MSD get their hands on it

sean, i would say 99.9% a vacuum leak somwhere on the inlet mate, spray wd40 around the area of the hissing noise while running, if theres a change in engine speed then youve found it

Glad the car is back together

Does sound like an airleak some where....

As its a new build, check all the inlet gaskets to, make sure everything is seated correctly

Right few checks today....

Its idles at 3000revs today

Sprayed WD around one side of the inlet and the revs dropped for a few seconds so going to take that back off next week and replace the gaskets, hopefully all should be okay then

Was really happy as she started first time on the button

Just a shame about the high revs lol but theres always something!!

Will check for air leaks and maybe re-fit inlet manifold.

I know feck all about efi... what sensors could cause high rev's?

Could a faulty TPS cause the problem?

Right SORTED....

seemed to be the conversion plate that oddkidd supplied... took to my local engineering place and turns out that it was slightly bent plus scratched (I thought gaskets would have sealed) .... got them to skim it for me plus I filled the scratch ... new gaskets, back on... SORTED

... for now lol

Time to run it in and give MSD a bell
