yer dont do it,

the trade has been hit very hard by cowboys and work is less every year.

only way i make any money is from cctv and burgular alarms, but that is massas of paperwork and you need full british standard iso company ect

only been in the trade since 1982 so should know.

heres a guide 16 years ago when i started my own company there was three pages of locksmiths in the local yellows

and no national companys

now this year we have 16 pages and lots of national companys

so even with more people in the area we now have too many companys all chasing the same work.

hence you end up with lots of cowboys who rip people off as they now may only get one or two jobs a day hence every job charge as much as possible and change parts that are not needed.

i learnt how to pick locks once on the internet,,, went into work and locked the whole workshop up,,, including filing cabinets we didnt have keys,,,
