Default Which Turbo - BuyingGuide.

Hi, if i were to upgrade my stage1 Cossy Engine to approx 350 - 420bhp range which turbo should i go for ? I hear good things about the Garret GT series but which version - GT30 ? Also theres regular threads on T34/5/8s but to be honest most of it goes over my head.

Can you post any links up where i can buy a decent one too - i hear the GT turbos are cheap in USA, has anyone imported any ?

Thanks in advance!

As gareth says, make your bloody mind up

Thats a BIG range to spec a turbo for!

T34 for the bottom end of it, T38 for the top end.

Or if you want to be trendy GT28RS for the bottom end of it, GT30 for the top end (and WAY beyond!)

T34 will be fine for 350

T38 should see 420

Well i was meaning i'll be happy with 350ish, but want an engine capable of 420bhp as & when, so was hoping for a flexible turbo to cover the range, dont want much i know.

What about the core and compressor?

On a serious note, this isnt a simple choice at all and requires you to make a 100% decision on power output and efficiency before you go any further. If it helps, i have written an article for next months fast ford on exactly how to choose a turbocharger and how to use the compressor maps to do so... may be worth a read for you.
