can your ford turbo beat a coupe 20v turbo?
Before you even consider the Fiat, I hope you are aware that the engine needs to be removed in order to replace the cambelt...
And so your looking at around Ł1000 - Ł1500 for a proffesional job at a main garage, as most smaller ones wont even attempt it.
I know which one I would rather have between a Fiat and a Ford!
The Ford has endless supply of aftermarket parts available for performance increases, where as the Fiat doesnt. The Ford will hold more value too (im guessing your thinking of a cossie) and the Fiat will also be harder to sell on when the time comes. A good cossie wont loose much if any value as they are strong in the market for their age etc.

Very exspensive servicing costs im led to believe !!!
Timing belt change can cost up to a grand and over that apparantly
heard of em runnin about 260ish horse but its a fiat so that will last about 20mins and then bang

Tottally up to urself !!!
Try and have a shot of both if u can ....
the cosworth was my childhood dream car and i tottally love it but they do cost money to maintain !!!!!
But all cars of this nature do , my cossie has been ultra reliable in the year ive owned it ,ive serviced it every 3 k ,replaced the sensors etc that can fail and kept it in tip top condition and ive done about lots of long distance miles and had my fun aswell !!!
Onlt thing thats just cost me is a new turbo and clutch ,fair doos its stage 3 tune and was a standard ford clutch and a t34 turbo from early escort cos and they are 13 years old now
Ideally if u buy a cossie treat it like a king and it will respect u and be faithfull , u just need to know what ur lookin for or ideally take extra eyes that does know about em and there faults !!

You bunch of muppets
Cambelt and all ancillary belts can be changed for as little as Ł399. It's only an engine out job if you use the main dealer monkeys. Plenty of specialists around who change the belts with engine in situ.
Very easy to tune a 20VT to 260 bhp and upto 300 with additional cooling, fuel pump and a remap.
FFS, you drive Sierra's

Someone was just trying to give their experence of the vehicle in question and you just jumped in calling ppl muppets. Everyone on here is there to help out not shit talk or or talk down to anyone. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you can start kicking off.

You guys are funny
All I ever hear from people I have come up against are the same old excuses, it gets tiresome. I am sure there are a handful of really quick fords, but most of them always seem to be on an off day when I meet them.
Focus RS / Focus ST / Saphire Cosworth 4x4 / Escort Cosworth / RS Turbo's. I have had all of them
Yes the Cossie's were a good car, but they have had their time.
I chase a Focus RS down country lanes on a daily basis and it is so easy its not funny, I keep having to back off
Fords that have produced good times are the exception, most are on their last legs after years of abuse and amateur tuning!

i have to say... being completly honest and not taking the piss for once, when i had my 20vt, i didnt think it was quick at all.. thats why i sold it, i only had it for two weeks, i really could never compare the two cars ever?
