Default Noise from front suspension... Please help!

I've just changed my shock absorbers from non adjustable uprated shocks to a set of adjustable konis. Since changing the shocks i have noticed a knocking noise coming from the top of the front suspension which seems to be more on the rebound stroke when going over potholes and bumps in the road.

I have poly top mounts fitted and am wondering if it could be these which are causing the noise seeing the suspension is firmer, i didn't have any problems with the softer suspension setup and have tried the konis on different settings.

The noise isn't too bad but am thinking of swapping the top mounts back to the normal rubber items to see if this cures it, just wondering if anyone would have any ideas or oppions before i take it all apart again.

Did you put the flat bearing ( a bit like a washer) back on ?

Yes they were all assembled properly with the bearing, checked all the parts too cos on one of the old shocks the cap had started to spit but used good parts.

Might try and change the top mounts and see if that makes a difference.

Had a look at the car and checked that everything is tight and all is fine, when i have time next week am gonna try changing the top mounts to see if that makes a difference. Can put up with the noise but want it to be right.

Any body else got any ideas??

I had a problem with a set of front koni dampers last year. The spring platform had been mounted on the damper 1 inch further down the damper body than it should have been. Might be worth checking against your old units.
