which way do you turn the oil filter when facing forward looking under the bonnet ? i been trying for half a hour trying to get it off but its sollid

As above or if not big enough the (very) messy way is to hammer a large screwdriver through it and use that as a lever but movement will be very restricted but you'll be able to break the seal.

I'm pretty sure if you're under the car looking up at the filter it goes it goes anti-clockwise.................

mole grips!! screw drivers!!! you butchers!!!

just get an oil filter removal tool from any motor factors or halfords,motorworld,etc.

they only cost a few quid and then turn it anti clockwise!

You dont have to pierce it, you can use a sharp screw driver on the edge to gently tap it round with a hammer......done this many a time.

The strap wins hands down though

To be fair it is a bit rough, makes the job very messy aswell, for the money a strap costs they're definately worth it aswell

Thats what I use but he hasn't got one !!! Mine's a chain one (bicycle chain type) and it's great, works a treat.
