I am thinking about buying an escort cossie can you please give me some advice on the best ones to buy, big turbo, small turbo, lux ect...
Is there anything i should look out for? Do they rust anywhere?
Any help would be great.
Cheers,
Jim

Hard to say what the best one to buy is, as its down to personal preference. Lux, obviously if you like the mod cons, e/w, c/l, e/sunroof, e/mirrors etc, leather and a/c optional. I think Motorsports dont have any of the above but im sure ppl will help out as I dont know much about these. Small or large turbo basicaly depends on power you require, I personnaly bought a small turbo as I wanted aurallis blue which was only a small turbo colour, The car accelerated very well but lacked the grunt on motor ways of a large turbo, so I have converted mine over all except management which im saving for now but the lag is a lot more noticable now using a t35. Also small turbos have different mirrors and twin air bags(although may be an option) which in my opion look better. Petrol cap is also a beter design as its not a muck trap but again my own personal opinion. Yes they do rust, filler caps rot out, door sills, front wheel arches, battery trays, tail gates around spoiler etc. And anywhere where bare metal has been exposed ie stone chips or bad accident repairs. Also suffer from electrical problems dash lights, stalk switches, fuse boxes etc. Im sure other ppl can ellaborate more, dont let this put you off as there are plenty off good ones out there and they really are an awsome car, dont buy the first you see, dont think that cheap ones are the way to go either. Hope this helps.

Colour is a personal choice. a mate of mine had a white one and had no trouble sellng it. White in my opinion is one of the least liked colours.
Mileage dont mean didley on them. When I bought mine i looked at loads of low milers around the 30K mark and some were smokey and rattley bags of shit. Service history is far more inportant. The one I bought had 79K on it with full history and was a much better buy. I think the big turbo modles seem to be the ones most peeps want and seem to be easyer to sell thats only what ive read. Standard or modified, Only buy a modded one if carreid out by a reptable cossie workshop.
They are excelent cars, had mine six years now and still love it.
