surely less pressure gives you more traction due to surface area...
higher pressures will rise more when you race due to the tyres getting warmed and heating the air therfore less surface area???

Track tyres are generally built for circuit use and greater longevity so its more difficult to get an even spread of heat into them. Sure you will get your best time with them over a standard road trye, but just think what it could be.. But I also understand you possibly are going to drive there on them, do the event and then drive home so your looking for it t o be an all rounder I guess
Im keeping everything crossed for you all too,
last time I went (2 years ago) it didn't stop all day
It wont be like that this year

If it helps.. a good-power 300ZX that belongs to a mate of mine ran the other year at the pod... struggling for traction until we dropped the pressures from 30psi (245/40/18 or summat) down to 18/20 psi, didn't seem to help any less than that on his car, made a .7s difference, believe it or not.
Overcast day as well if that helps. Slightly damp track.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

Depends if its FWD or RWD H15 FSC
For all the PM's asking me what pressures to run.... I don't know, every car/tyre combination will be different.
Try 1 run with them up, try 1 run with them down, swap fronts to back and backs to fronts if you have different compounds. Take note of the weather and tyre condition (hot cold etc) Start a log book and record YOUR findings and stick to what your happy with. I can guarantee that it wont be the same for the person behind you so its impossible to say what any optimum pressure will be..
Thats why they operate run what you bring days, so you can try out different ideas to find YOUR optimum, then you just put it all into practice on show days.
Just go and have fun if you havn't got as far as doing all that yet.

to be able to know exactly what to run, i also have a digital infrared tyre temp guage that i use throughout the day, helps me decide what the suspension settings are looking like also, but this can also be varied by tyre pressure, just to throw another spanner at the works
