Default 2 or 4wd front hub swap, differences?

Can anybody tell me the difference between 2 and 4wd cossie front hubs, I have some shocks from a 4x4 cossie I want to use on my 2wd cossie, what needs to be done to make them fit? If the shocks wont fit 2wd hubs why not? and can the 4x4 hubs be used instead? Whats the differences? brake mounting points, brake offset, angle of the dangle

2wd hubs have a smaller diametre where the strut goes in.

so if using 4x4 shocks u need to get the 2wd hubs machined.

or fit 4x4 front hubs, but then im not sure how u sort out the inner CV, where the drive shaft would normally sit on a 4x4 hub.

think 2wd shocks are 50mm and 4wd are 60mm, not 100% on that

you can't intermingle the hubs
as well as the struts being thicker, the barkes are also offset differently and even bolt up differently

if you are determind to use the 4wd struts then you will have to find a solution to the problem, but machining away part of the hub to mke them fit is pure madness

in my honest onion

2wd hubs have a 46mm hole for the strut, the 4wd have a 50mm hole, the 4wd obv have a hole for the shafts, 2wd dont, the brake caliper mounts and the hubs offset are completely different, the 2 brake kits wont interchange.
the 2wd hubs can be modded to take the 50mm bodies with no detriment.

OK, thanks all
I have 4x4 AVO coilovers ready to fit and so either have to open out my hubs by 2mm radius or get somebody to swap them for 2wd items? more hassle than they are worth, just buy 2wd fronts??
Could I reduce the sleeve on the shocks or have AVO change the sleeve you think or they bonded/welded on rings and lug?
