Default any bikers on..

hi all, went out for a good blast yesterday and cud smell petrol when i went in the garage today, all i cud find wrong was the pipes that come off the tank were wet with juice, as if the petrol s comin thru them , heres a pic..



the pipes arnt rubber ther the same as whats used on car tanks,

I say it's the tap itself that's knackered or the clips are not done up tight enough!

what bike is it? just had to change mine on the zx cost Ł50 from Kawasaki's robbing bar stols

The pipe is a normal rubber one with the extra covering on...

There is probably a split in the rubber behind the covering,I would replace them if i was you mate and avoid any possibility of a fire...

I did that on mine and It NEVER stopped most properly the same type of tap as the one I just replaced did look on flea bay at the time there wasn't any on there but wort hhaving a look though

right mate, cant be to expensive to get a couple of new pipes, might take them off and take them up to EKbrakes see if thay cud match some car stuff up?

I DONT think it's the pipes m8 it's possible the actual tap itself worn out inside

tap hope not , had to buy a new one my suzuki rgv 250 and that was well expensive

I'm pretty sure you can just buy the rubber seal inside the petrol tap. You always used to be able to anyway.

It's been a few years since I've done one though.


It should be pretty obvious where it's leaking from tbh, clean it up, dry it off and fill it full of petrol. It it is the tap it'll be leaking from the front of the tap.

I recommend a lighter to dry it off

ok had the tap to bits and doesent look nakered but iv cleaned it all up and w.d it put it back together and for now seems ok bike running ok just hope iv put the right pipes back on for reserve or reserve will be were on was and on will be were reserve was just waiting for the cash for the R1 death bike

result I was going to get a late r1 also put have change for a gixer k3 or a Repsol Blade
