towing on motorway
AFAIK (so may be a little off)
1) You must have someone in the car operating the brakes. (Theres apparently a new law saying you can't tow more that 750Kg ish if its unbraked)
2) Speed up to 55mph

ageed david! my friend thought it would be funny to tow me back from the bodyshop me in his freshly painted astra him in his rover tomcat, the brakes in the astra were hardly working i.e. ok at low speed but when your being towed at 100+ just feet away from his car it aint funny nothing i could do but sit there and steer, now when he asks me and promises he wont drive like that again i know he breaks his promises...
The law states that your only allowed to tow to the next available exit off the motorway from where you broke down, if you get caught getting on the motorway you'll get fucked.........................
Says me who once got towed from Bathgate salvage auctions in Scotland to Preston in Lancashire and never dropped below about 75-80 on a rope in a Honda Accord with no windscreen in it bumper or radiator front light's of any description and a battered wing and a bonnet held down with string...............AHHHH the good old days when you could run the rozzer's to the English border and get away with it.........................
