Default 16v TURBO CANDY RED S1 IS WELL UNDERWAY!!!! *UPDATED*

Ive been trying to crack into my car as much as possible recently (NOW THAT IVE RECIEVED MY NICE BIG CHEQUE FROM MY OLD WRITTEN OFF FRST!!!!!)
I ordered/recieved the paint a while ago( 7 LITRES OF THE SHINY STUFF!!!!!lol) I managed to stripp the car down fairly quickly too.........with help from the brother inlaw
i am going for a completely smooth euro look in the engine bay, more extreme than ive sen in other fords.i know it dont look like much at the moment, but everyones gotta start somewhere aye???
ive still got loads to do bodywork wise(new wings etc etc.)
my bonnets going to be louvered over the next couple of days.
my FAVOURITE (lol) uncle has agreed to come out of retirement to paint my car for me (hes got 22 years of experience so it should be a pucker job )
ive gathered a few more goodies inc brakes, tubular manifold, coilovers.
GOT my steel rods/forged pistons on order from the states ( AS THE SO - CALLED "MINT" calibre turbo pistons i got off someone off here turned out to be fuc*ed when they arrived at my door!!!!!!!!!! )
and strangely refuses to answer my pm's!!!!!!!!!!
My uncle said he would paint it NEXT WEEK!!!!! so im tryin to get it all prepped asap(WITHOUT RUSHINg IT AND BODGING IT) everything has to look 100% otherwise i will not be happy
Also ordered a rear CUSTOM polished cage with fixed diagonals today as well as strutbrace. should arrive in a week or so!!!!!
ITS ALL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

before :-

now:-

me in action lol

some of my goodies

getting my eldest 3yr old son involved in fords(my bonus smoker!!)!!!!lol.

and my interior thats no longer needed that ive put on e bay

i know it sounds like a lot of paint lol
4 litres of primer
5 litres of silver basecoat
7 litres of candy apple red
5 litres of activator(harderner)

the reason i need so much candy paint is because the candy paint is really transparrent. Obviously the more coats you apply, the DEEPER the overall finish. When i originally mentioned this project on here,a few people mentioned that it looks pinky, and took the piss a bit sayin that a pink s1 would look lovely.I knew exactly what i was looking for in the shade of red,AND IT WILL NOT END UP LOOKING PINKY like some of the cars you see painted this colour. This is due to this paint being every labour intensive, and expensive!!!! and bodyshops using minimal amounts to make max profit!!!!!
Inside the car (rear) is going to be fully panelled out,for a really smooth look, chrome cage, and there will be lots of flocking

sorry mate, manifolds a bit of a secret....... what i will say is that it cost me.................£50!!!!!!!!!

ive got a few pic updates for you all......

whipped the wings off and found a couple of bits of rot which needed attention....... expected really they're only spotted on for the mo, gona use my uncles welder as its 100% better than mine

i spent ages cutting the templates out to get everything right!!!!! I WOULD NEVER TAKE ON A JOB LIKE THIS AGAIN!!!! serious aggro

i have basically made some framework to lift the panels 1inch. it is basically a false floor now,so that i can run my wires for my sub/amps/ battery underneath to keep everything neat
will take some pics of the framework today

these pics give you a very rough idea what i am aiming at...

got my bonnet back a couple of days ago too........very pleased with it sorry bout the poor pic

and im gettin there with the smoothing of the rear!!!!!!!!!!!!

some fresh pics people

all the welding has been sorted

[imghttp://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f213/rightstuff1/stage%201%20restoration/P5020129.jpg[/img]

me

and my ol' pops on the lovely sanding, smoothing duties!!!!!!!
sometimes i fell i wish i didnt decide to go this extreme

got a bit further with the rear panel

stared to smooth the battery area

inner wing is very nearly there now
the smoothing of the strut was a nightmare to get looking right

tryed a test fit of my custom fusion cage/strut brace
to be honest im not 100% happy with the fit .where it meets the wheel arch.will have to sort it as its way out oh, and theres still loads to do in the rear panelling department yet to get it finished and looking flush so dont worry yet

oh and for the comments made about it going to look pink, well this is what it looks like in the tin,and that is pretty much the colour the car will end up

i cant make up my mind wether to get these re-trimmed,or go and buy a new set

me taking a break from the sanding
(can you tell the fuel has got old where the bikes been sitting for months lol lol
