new alternator made big difference
jus thought i'd share this information with you as im sure someone will find it interesting.
my dads dax rush has a 215bhp zetec engine in.
using dunnell throttle bodies, cams and managment.
it always run quite well straight from the box and bolted on.
but for christmas he didnt know what to get form his misses.
he phoned dunnell and told them the sort of money he wanted to spend and asked what the reccomended.
they said as your rev limiter had been raised to 7200 the water pump will be running faster than it is designed to do at them revs.
im not exactually sure how a smaller alternator pully effects the water pump speed but apparently it does.
so he decided to buy a new alternator that gives a smooth constant 14v instead of the varied voltage the standard alternator gives.
he put it back on the road this month and it runs great.
it seams the managment runs a lot better with the clean voltage. and im guess the water pump isnt being strained any more.
also looks nicer than before being a small, clean silver alternator.
