Default Couple of questions (XR2TT died tonight!!)

Hi

had a phonecall from a friend earlier, he was on the motorway in his Xr2 turbo technics when he noticed a lot of white smoke behind him, loss of power and when he pulled up, the carb was OVERFLOWING with petrol !!

car will not start now.

questions

1. Why would the carb fill/overfill with fuel?

2. White smoke is a sign of what ( fucked scale 1-10)?

3. sounds nasty to me but does anyone have a magic diagnosis before we can get to have a look in a couple of days time?

4. What problems would shitloads of fuel cause to the engine?

thanks for any ideas/replies

Maybe a problem with the choke, but wudnt have thought that wud flood the carb to the extent u describe.

Did it cough and splutter before dying, or just die?

sounds like h-g / turbo to me.

and carb flooding will be another problem, normally due to faulty needle valve or too much fuel pressure.
