ive got one at the moment mate and ive had it over a year now and its an awesome car but its up for sale at the moment due to me doing the opposite to you and getting my cossie. Its been a sweet car for the time ive had it and ive literally just got in it,turned the key and driven it with no probs at all. Its just had a service and cambelt done and a forge motorsport dump valve fitted aswell. The handling of these cars is just simply amazing and goes round corners like nothing else ive driven. As an everyday car its so much better to drive than the cossie and so much more reliable but i just love my old fords so its got to go unfortunately...........my mates say im crazy but shit happens.

Have raced and driven a m8's p1,absolutely leathered it in the race and hate to admit it it's a good drive with wicked handling and seats, but it ain't as good as my cossie.

Not a fan of the scoobys tbh, but that is just based on looks alone and the fact there everywhere.

The P1 on the other hand is a nice looking motor that from what i can gather from reading about them are VERY capable cars and there pretty rare.

That said a mate of mine has just got a tommy mac edition evo6 an dthat imo looks compared to the scooby

The thing is though is the tommi mak a better quicker car than the P1 or it just the factor.

I mean the P1 might be a better more exhilerating drive than the tommi mak.

I would go for the Tommi Mak every time over the P1 but only down to personal taste which tbh is probably the only thing that would seperate them as there both good cars imo

I really like P1's That said, I have only ever driven one, and only ever drive one other Scooby, which was a WRX STi something or other (new shape one), but the P1 was a dream to drive - and pretty rapid!

Bro in law had one. Nice enough car but he said the seats were very uncomfy if you did any real distance in them.

A remapped p1 running an exhaust is a very quick car through the gears considering its near standard.

However they have a tendancy to understeer and as such I would never own one. Put the boot down in an Evo and it goes where u point it or over steers trying to go where u point it..... so much better

old mans just got a mint evo 4 over a scooby p1 (looked at a 555 aswell)

the evo is so much nicer, more stable through the corners and handles more towards nuetral oversteer.
just fitted a inductionkit, straight through exhaust, reversed the dump valve (puley for the compressor surge sound and because the standard ones start leaking at any thing over the 1.2bar standard boost) and the car already had a mines ecu.

and fuck me she flies, been told that 350bhp should be easy and with these mods more could be availabe with another remap.

evo for me every time, scoobys are shite

there were only 1000 p1's or sale iirc.

i like them but i prefer the evo's rather than the scoobs.

hope you are making the right decision.

Most P1's have had to have an engine rebuild before 60k miles. Do a search on ScoobyNet about them.

I have driven one before and wasn't overly impressed with it. An Evo 6/7 is a far better option IMO.

My m8's was awseome with a remap and exhaust as said above. I couldnt beleive how quick it went off the clock, 5th gear just pulled and pulled. It had 2 engine builds in it's time he owned it though and he looked after it so well serviced on and before time sometimes only the best things for it.

Lovely looking motor though.

He spent thousands on it and was looked after by TSL who seemed a good company.

First build was when it was standard and was covered under warranty, second was when out of warranty. He did abuse it but was serviced on time and if anything needed doing it was done. Seemed to be just one of them cars you get with however much money you spend something goes wrong. Im sure we can all relate to that with owning cosworths at some stage.

here we are all saying about how scooby engines go bang but hold on lads......how many rebuilds have our cossies had?????????

I do love my cossie big time but my P1 is a far better car in every aspect simply because its a modern car and doesnt go wrong every 10 minutes but the cossie is just pure fun and i love going sideways so the P1 has to go.

I must admit i do sometimes wish i had opted for an evo instead of the P1 for the pure fact that most ppl say they are better but its never too late to get one still

Not all cossie`s are unreliable get them properly mapped, fueling, etc, no what your looking for when buying one, and you can get a good reliable car oh, and you can go side ways in P1 Lammylama trust me

i know you can go sideways in a P1 but its not the same fun or as easy as in the cossie......you have to give P1's so much stick to get them to break traction and ive had a few scary moments in mine too

My cossie has been reliable in the time ive had it ......its been set up properly and its got all the right bits on it.....quaife atb, group n diff mount, big brakes etc etc so im hoping its gonna stay reliable with the right maintenance from me

okay,

when u stick an exhaust on a P1 they tend to then det from what I have seen. A knocklink or a remp after fitting any sorta mods to a P1 is essential.

A friend purchased a P1 from a dealer, who then stuck an exhaust on it for him. That night it blew up, detted to death. He since got a new engine in it and a knocklink, same mods the knocklink was going nuts. He had it re-mapped by andy forrest and now it runs sweet as a nut and VERY quick considering.

As for evo 4's running an exhaust and airfilter and 1.2 bar and being 350 bhp. No chance. Try more like 300 bhp. U need a properly re-mapped evo 6 engine pushing 1.5 dropping 1.4 bar to get about 350 bhp.

Cheers

RW

Thats the only thing about going to the other side is that alot of people that have come back to cossies

When i was going up M11 today made me think i cant part with it

Its funny to see the look on peoples faces when they see it

One geezer in an ST on the other side of the road in Harlow was breaking his neck to look back
