Was reading the article about Harvey and SCS in performance Ford and wondered if anyone on here was running the 445 conversion they spoke about.
Looking at increasing power on my own EsCos currently with stage 3 and rs500, GPA breather system.
What sort of costs are involved and whats the actual spec????

Fully rebuilt unit, new pistons etc. 6 long studded block, WRC metalic multi-layer head gasket, injectors, turbo, cams, Nick Waples (one of the best in the business) worked head, O ringed inlet, big wing sump, dyno mapped, etc. etc. the list goes on and on.... and reliability to boot.
No, not just 'an engine'
a reliable engine which delivers what I asked (and that wasn't a bhp figure
) from one of the top engine builders. How much do you think a 450BHP conversion should cost? There's probably cheaper, (and dearer) out there, I stuck with who I know (for a long, long time) and trust implicitly.
That's not to say there aren't others who I respect and trust (Martin@Reyland, Stu, Karl etc..) but I've know Harvey for donkeys years and so unfortunately no-one else got a look in.

I think the trouble is these days that people come on here and see quite alot of decent spec/power cossies and think it must be quite cheap, where as in reality people are just willing to spend more to keep up since the jap invasion! I think alot dont realise its actually quite expensive for a genuine good spec cossie.
What are you doing regards transmission?
Nope, just a VERY happy customer
I only 'bang on' about my engine to those who ask....
I have a small group of people who I trust with my car, and I like to put work their way e.g. Harvey, Martin, Mike R, Stu, CTS - They've all given me EXCELLENT service & advice, and when I get good service, I like to thank them and point others in the right direction.....
I've pointed plenty of people in your direction too, Phil
New & slightly uprated front diff, Quaife shot peened & polished gearkit (Fixit wasn't an option at the time, as the kit wasn't 'complete' ) I'll worry about the rear diff if and when it goes....

Damo, as you know I was looking at going the same route as you, but once the gearkit was sorted, it seemed daft not to throw a little more through it, as I only wanted to do it once. Could also have gone for more, but as said, you have to draw the line somewhere
and mine is a daily driver....so I feel I have the perfect setup for me.

I dont understand that tbo where does more than 7k go on a standard rebuild, and what are they doing thats 7k worth that IF you were handy couldnt do yourself for much less, im not saying that spending 7k on a build is wrong or not good, i just dont see where the money goes, two very handy mates helped me do my build on my car and it cost just under 2k, it took a while but i wasnt that bothered, and all i can say is it runs like an absolute dream, if i had a receipt from harvey saying it was a 7k build im sure you wouldnt disagree, ( ok less the injectors, turbo and that )

Would be great to go down that route for my escort but that much power in rwd cant be fully usable.
Good to hear Nik is still doing his headwork, my x mrs was Niks daughters best mate, many hrs was spent dribbling over his work in his workshop, He done a 1.4 Nova head for me worth a fortune but sadly a rod let go and soon sorted the head out
Will without doubt get him to do a head for me as some point though for the cossy.
Davescos- has your car actually been anywhere or do just just keep changing your engine spec ? ? awesome looking car IMO

I *think* he semi-retired now Jonny, and spends most of his time in a sunnier climate than the UK
I have what I consider a good T38 Dave, and it's capable of more than I have currently....

An interesting read fellas, certainley seems worth the figure.
I can feel my bank balance lightening already
Brakes are well up to the job and just had rebuilt box installed so i hope it would hold out for a while anyway.
Would prob go for boost controller to turn it down for non track use give the transmission half a chance
