Default BRAKE PAD RECOMMENDATIONS

Disks are warped

Just ordered new sierra cosworth 2wd disks for the front (£78)

Anyone know any pads they recommend? just checking your opinions on this. I used to use red dot on my swift gtis before but not sure about the score with turbos.

I run a std grade mintex - not the 1144. Never had a problem on cosworth discs, and im around 300hp, and do a LOT of miles. If ur not going to do track days, this is what i would recommend - as they are much nicer to drive than a fast road pad.

The fast road ones I suggested only really come alive when warmed up, so depening on what you do the choice is up to you

Mintex 1144's are excellent for road use but NOT track use. They crack down the centre of the pad under high temps

Ferodo DS2500's for road use and track use. They take a little bit more working to get to a nice temp for good road use but are still ok from cold. There excellent on track when you get them hot.

Stay away from anything with the words "EBC and Green" in them, they are piles of shite that will warp your discs very very quickly

Arent DS2500's more of a track use pad? these will take a bit longer to heat up than the DS2000's aswell

whereas the DS2000's are for fast road use, and still take a bit to heat up to come into proper play!

Not used DS2000 but i can say that the DS2500's work as well as mintex 1144's when cold but feel like they have extra grip when you get them upto a warm temp or use them on track.

I would recommend Mintex 1155's for fast road use (far better than 1144's), that's what I have on my road going standard Impreza, they work well from cold and have never had them fade when hot. Only down side is I now have black wheels!

You can get these direct from Questmead in Rochdale (1155's, not black wheels), they supply the likes of Demon Tweeks etc. Ask to speak to Alan or John. 08707 450584

Use the 1155's in my cossie, very good pad.
Dont work too good from cold as i once found out but dont take long to warm up.
Also found them realy good on track in the cossie.

However the same cant be said for track use on the fiesta as they seem to crack the pads!

I'm very happy with my black diamond pads on my black diamond discs. Very little fading, seem to fit the wheight of the Escort very nicely, bites hard when cold, and bites just as hard or harder after several laps at the tracks. These pads are underrated.

AFAIK the black diamond branded ones are manufactured by Mintex.

From personal opinion of pads the Ferodo DS series have far too much copper in them which leaves itself on the surface of the disc.

Tried them once, never again.

Mintex all the way on the Escort

Same specs as Mintex pads? What Mintex pads would be the same as the Black dimaond ones?

I said 'manufactured' by Mintex (which is only a trading name), not the same as a specific Mintex. They wont have a direct comparison

Why not? They could be. It's most likely their the same as m1144.
