Default sound of an induction kit?

I recently fitted one to my cossie and from previous experience with these on other cars I expected a rather deep sound, instead what I mainly hear is the car taking a large breath in which sounds rather odd.

is this normal?

I think the intake roar and the whistling of the turbo is useful - it informs you what's going on, with your ears, don't need to be looking at the rev counter so much.

I personally feel that my car is as it's maker intended, rather than suffocated by legislation and conservatism.

I got my car with a big filter on it and wanted to change for the standard, did so and hated it, i`ve got a dump valve to and was gony take it of but i much rather the seriously loud chatter and the valve at the same time, i felt my turbo was getting choked with the standard box on, as if it was struggling, obviously in my mental mind but the standard is back in the hut with the lawn mower
