Default ILL OF WORK ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE....prt2.....

Ive been of work since last tuesday because of pulling a muscle in my back i had 2 days off before ringing the doctors trying to get an oppointment on thurs and friday but they were very busy and i couldnt get one, the doctors receptionist said that in terms of my work and the law i am allowed 7 days self cert so in terms off me getting in trouble with my work im ok. Now the injury was done during work lifting paper all night over a 12 hour shift as im a print finisher by trade and last sunday was flat out now someone on here has pm'd me and said that as the injury happened at work i might be entitled to full pay????also my back still hurts and i might be forced to go back on monday as im losing loads of money by being off, any ideas where i stand on this one???, cheers all

I don't think it matters if you injured yourself at work or not. Could your employer claim your injury is the result of not following health and safety rules ? e.g. were you given proper training in the handling of heavy goods ?
If you were, they could claim you ignored the training and could have avoided the injury by being more careful, thus avoiding all responsibility.

As for what you can and can't claim, there will be government guidelines (which are not usually in your favour), otherwise, it should be spelt out in your employment contract and terms of engagement.
Time to read the small print methinks
