Default ILL,OFF WORK AT THE MO...ADVICE PLEASE...

Im of work at the moment with a bad back that happened on sat just gone, i went into work on sun and it made it alot worse, iasnt due in on mon but had tue,wed,thurs, and fri off, ive tried to get a doctors appointment thurs and fri but couldnt get one, i spoke to the recepionist and she said the law states the 1st 7 working days are self explaniatary(sorry if spelling is wrong), can work get funny over this???, im planning on going back ater the weekend

you can self certificate the first 7 days you are off... but ...
would go and see the doc's and get your back looked at .. they may tell you to have more time off to allow it to recover..

depends on company policy i think - ours requires a doctors note if you're ill more than 1 day or you dont get paid (officially, not heard it enforced tho)

im just a little a little bit concerned about my work as they are busy at the moment and can get funny etc ih people of ill etc, so wher do i stand legally?? i tae it work can do nothing in terms of warnings or sacking etc??, btw ive worked there 4 yrs and have had no previous warnings etc

You can legally self cert the first five working days, thay cant make you get a doctors note

thing is before i was ill the doctor told me he wouldnt issue me with a note as id only been of 1 day ill and to ome back after the self crt time had ellasped????

im not getting paid im losing a days pay everyday im off so i need to go back on monday as i cant afford to be off any longer , ill just have to be very careful at work

pauld, are you self employed then? as they cant legally not pay you if you're off you should at LEAST get statutory sick pay (which is about minumum waggeish i think... lol)

no mate i believe after 3 days i get ssp which i think is Ł54 a week i think but the first 3 days i lose,and i need a doctors note........the company policy is we will pay u with the managers discression hich means shit as over the last 4 yrs ive had
1.illness
2.dad have stroke
3.nan die
4.wife has crohnes disease and went in for a serious operation
...... and ive never been paid shit.........does my fcuking head in

my company has the same policy mate ....

did you hurt it whilst at work ???

do your company provide you with any aids in lifting (back support) etc.. health and safety at work etc etc states they must provide you with things like that if your job involves lifting heavy items..

my backs been gradually getting orse over 2 weeks im a printfinisher by trade and lift large sheets of paper most pallets have 6-8k sheets on a pallet and i load sometimes 8-9 pallets on the machine over a 12 hour nightshift and last sunday boom my back went
