Woke up this morning, drivers door open on car, looked in car and the steering surround is smashed, the alarm wires have been cut so alarm was going off but no noise.

They tried to break the steering lock so they could move the car onto the tow truck they had waiting!! (my neighbor saw, but didn't call police, as he didn't know who's car it was, said he saw them smashing the steering lock!!)

Waiting for police now!! 3rd time it been broken into!!

That's a pretty piss poor excuse for not calling the police! If I saw someone breaking into a car and smashing the steering column, with a tow truck waiting no less, I'd

a: be straight onthe blower to the old bill or

b: if it was someone I know's car, probably go out there with a bat and confront the fookers.

had a disc lock (was my ex's) but when split with ex gave it back to him

I can see my neighbors point of not wanting to get ionvolved, plus he didn't know it was my car but the smashing the steering lock would have given me an idea that it wasn't their car!

 

Thats still no excuse for your neighbour not to call the police or even you!

He condones criminal damage does he! People smashing cars up, regardless of who's it is, or if he knows them or not should be reported or dealt with immediately!

Think I may have screwed at my neighbour if they hadn't done anything. When mine got broken into my neighbour woke me up at 5:30 am banging on my door until I woke up

they did the passenger door a few weeks ago I hadn't found one to replace it

then they decided to do the drivers door, instead of walking around the other side of the car and bending the already some what bent door they bend the one that I changed in July!!

Set some CCTV up on your car it's not expensive to do now. If you have a camcorder and a VCR you can do it off the mains and just use a 4hr tape and set it to long play. Give you 8 hours of cover just need to remember to set the recorder each night. Have you got PIR security lights? If not get some they are only Ł10 from Argos and are a doddle to fit and set up.
