Default Insurance - decat?

ok how do you lot insure your cars with a de-cat exhaust?

My car is totally standard but was thinking of getting a decat but aparently you can't insure it, so i would have to get a sports cat.

just after ideas

cheers

Paul

PS is a sport cat similar performance wise to a decat?

I think it's safe to say that a very large majority of people dont tell their insurance company

most people dont say about a de-cat because it does make the car illegal, a well designed sports cat is just as good as a decat

but then if you were to have an accident and the car can't be moved (to remove the decat before assesors turn up) i take it your insurace is void?

Yeah, same with any undeclared mods. Like Gareth T said, it's actually illegal not to have a cat on your car so I can only assume that insurance is impossible to get.

Paul,

I just wrote to my insurance company explaining that my cat blew and ford wanted £700, so my mechanic has fitted a decat instead which saved me £600 and they were fine with that.

Didn't cost me any extra on the policy.

....& I would always list any mods if it cost's you morey or not. Why pay for a policy and then you void it by not notifying them!
