Default 1ST COSSIE LOADS OF PROBS IDLING @2200RPM??????

HI ALL
JUST AQUIRED MY FIRST COSSIE IT'S AN EARLY SAPPHIRE 4X4 ON A 1990 H PLATE, PURCHASED IT OFF A GOOD MATE WHO HAS HAD IT SAT IN HIS GARAGE DOING NOTHING (I MEAN NOTHING OT EVEN STARTED!!!) FOR OVER A YEAR, HAD IT ABOUT 4 WEEKS AND AM WELL IMPRESSED, APPARENTLY RUNNING ABOUT 360 BHP???
PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN HAVING ARE STARVING OF FUEL OR OVER FUELLING WHILST DRIVING AND ENGINE AT NORMAL TEMP JUST DIES LEAVE IT A WHILE AND IT WILL START AGAIN ONLY FOR THE PROBLEM TO RETURN LATER MAYBE A MILE OR 20 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, SORTED THIS OUT BY DISCONNECTING THE ICSV, IT HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE SINCE (@2 WEEKS) THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YESTERDAY STOPPED AT SOME LIGHTS AND IT WAS LIKE THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS STUCK, AND IT HAS BEEN IDLING ABOUT 2200 RPM, REMOVED ALL THE PIPES TODAY AND CHECKED EM, REPLACED ALL THE JUBILEE CLIPS WITH NEW ONES, ALSO REMOVED DUMP VALVE AND CHECKED DIAPHRAGM ALL SEEM OK BUT DUMP VALVE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING NOW, MIGHT JUST BE ME THOUGH.
AS I SAID B4 THIS IS MY FIRST COSSIE SO KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT THEM APART FROM THEY ARE A WORLD OF TROUBLE AND I CAN SEE ME GETTING A WHOLE LOAD OF EARACHE FROM THE MISSES FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE HAVE TO BE SPENT ON IT.
THE CAR HAS DONE ABOUT 104K BUT HAS HAD AN ENGINE RE-BUILD IN 2001, WITH A LOAD OF NEW STUFF CHUCKED AT IT.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF A NEW ISCV VALVES £323 FROM FORD!!!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE CHEAPER???
ALSO I GOT QUITE CHEAP INSURANCE FROM CHRIS KNOTT GROUP £776 FULLY COMP DECLARING ALL MODS AND I HAVE A BAN FOR SPEEDING, 27YEARS OLD, IS THIS CHEAP????
SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS AND THANKS FOR ANY REPLYS IN ADVANCE.
CHEERS

Check for an air leak after the throttle body - blown inlet or plenum gasket sounds favoutite. Also check that you haven't lost the idle screw from the bottom of the throttle body.

I used to insure through Chris Knott - £776 sounds an OK price.

They're only a heap of trouble if you fix them on the cheap I can't think of any gaskets that are re-useable on the YB.

Seriously, they are VERY reliable if looked after, they only turn to trouble when messed with

Good luck with, I am sure that once sorted it will be great.

PS: avoid caps when posting, it puts people's backs up and you are less likely to get an answer

the iscv can be cleaned im sure if you do a search on here you can find the proper way to do it! but i just take it out squirt it with carb cleaner until the manky shit runs clear i think the cutting out problem could be your water temp sensor (blue one-back of the head.)only about £25 from woodford garage.a guy off here sells them on ebay,i seen a pack of three different sensors for £28 i think his user name is matt lewis

if it cuts out once up to temp then wont start for ages it might be the blue coolant temp sensor on the head. inlet side.

i always say that for these types of probs but mine did the exact same plus its the cheapest sensor so doesnt hurt to change it first.
