Ok, this morning when i was driving to the garage to have the oil/filter change done, the turbo or something in the engine sounded like a police siren noise. when it was warm the noise disappeared. i didnt intend to use the turbo when it was cold but needed to get away quickly. however, whats foxes me is there is no smoke whatsoever coming out of the exhaust.
is this a sign of imminent failure or just cause it was cold.
my car is coming up to 70k on the original non recond turbo
there is oil in the engine, i've been running it on 0-40w fully synthetic over winter and its getting changed today to 15-50w. the oilfeed pipe? not checked. so if its spilt there my problem i guess?
w will only get smoke if the rear oil seal has failed. if u arent getting any oil to the turbo - then yes, u arent going to burn any! The feedpipe could be blocked - unscrew it from the turbo, run the engine and make sure it comes out under pressure - have a rag to hand!
