Default Newman cam timing....

Just fitted a newman cam/soid lifters but it doesn't come with any timing settings (or instructions of any sort to be honest), set it to the standard timing marks for now, but wondered what youg guys have found to be the optimium setting??? Doesn't really seem to be as good as i thought it'd be at the mo, hopin it will be better when timed up correctly!

RICK: Cheers, i'll set it to that on the wkend then and see what it's like! Gonna let mine settle down for a couple of weeks then re-adjust them, shouldn't be too rattly i hope!
T28RST: what do u reckon to yours???? Only i got the impression it was almost a race cam i.e lairy, but to be honest it doesn't pull as strong at the top as i thought it would!

like any modification done to change the characteristics of the engine needs set up afterwards, get it to a tuner to be proper set up and youll see the difference then,id get a vernier pulley if youve not already got one

cant make first impressions until its runnin to its potential, its gonna change how your car will run, pull and general driveability,if you had put a similar specced cam you had in it would be 90% set up,but you have completely changed whats goin on so its gonna be well off tune,so much that its gonna either feel shite and not what you expected or gonna pull like a train and youll have over expectations,i wouldn't even be raggin it to test how good it is till its proper set up,whens it goin to be set up,let us know how it goes

JAMBO RST: Yeah i know what you're sayin mate, had a kent cvh34 before so it's setup for that like, now i've driven it a bit (my tuner said i could drive it till he can set it up) and it's not as bad as i thought! Should be good when timed in properly, and runnin 20 p.s.i!
