Default 2wd Cossy Engine Life

How many miles would you expect a Standard 2wd cossy engine to do before it is in need of e rebuild. I am about to buy to 3 door, completely standard, but the engine has done 91k, good service history and runs well. Will it need a rebuild soon? I have no plans for big BHP, just leave it as I get it standard.
Thanks for all your advice.

depends mate...

how hard has it been driven?

how many cold starts etc?

have seen cossies do 125k without a rebuild.

it also depends alot on how you will drive it?

any problems with oil burning etc will only really be shown up if you drive the car relitivley hard.

if you just cruise around using no boost the engine will last forever.

my car had only done 67k when i bought it but as soon as i chiped it and turned boost up ot was evident that it needed a rebuild.

some engines are better than others as all cossie yb unit were hand built.

some engine builders were better than others.

If "normally used" i'd say not not less then 150.000km and not much more then 225.000km

Hard to say, depends on what you want..
If you're gonna rebuild, it's smart to think about future plans,
don't wanna do it again

Give the guys at A1 a call, they build good engines (So i've heard)

I have seen a 240,000mls std engine that had only had a head rebuild.
Mind you it was rattling like a good un when came in for a quote.
The engine was std and had only had regular oil changes but had a auto box attached for a disabled driver so maybe it had never done any "real work"
The car was certainly showing its mileage aswell.

Done mine and had no problems.

What happened when the bearing spun ? did the motor seize ?

Thanks.

I imagine things would just get pretty damn noisy to begin with.

Also depends on the state of tune the engine's in. stg3 won't last as long as stg1 all things being equal

Just turned 120,000miles this morning, Stage 1 4x4, original engine except for a snapped cambelt leading to 16 new valves a couple of years ago.
