recieving payment, ebay

Can I be ripped off with personal cheques and bank transfers?

one guy wants to send a personal cheque, however he has low feedback and has an 'african' name

although his address is in kent and hasnt asked me to send it abroad.

Other guy is in belgium and wants to wire transfer funds, his account has been active for a good few years and has good feedback for a couple of high price items.

Can either of these payments be withdrawn or cancelled after they've been cleared and money has entered my account? obviously I'm not posting anything till I have money in the bank but I'm sure I read on here it can still go wrong.

Any advice?

once payment has been received can not see how they can recal it ..
would deffo go for bank transfer tho ..
dont ever send anything untill payment has cleared...

at the end of the day its upto you...

I thought all these foreign scams relied on you banking a cheque though? so how is that different to banking a cheque from a genuine ebayer?

I'm not too worried, just making sure I dont leave myself open to being scammed!

your thinking of a money gram or a western money transfer mate . both of these can be withdrawn up to 7 days after they have been cashed. so they pay you, you see the funds in your bank and so give them the goods , then they cancel the transfer and have both your item and your money !! im sure ebay banned the use of these 2 ways of paying now due to the loophole.

the best person to ask mate is the bank you are going to put the funds into but i cant see a problem but as said above its up to you mate!!
