the majority of pop up's are due to a machine having spyware installed. Download something like "spybot search and destroy" and try and remove any spyware on the machine. visit www.download.com for the above.

yeah and get firefox internet browser, much better security than internet the explorer and the built in pop up blocker is great, and you can also set it so that some sites allow pop ups, i.e this site, for things like when you recieve a pm and login PF it will pop up a box telling you that you have a pm waiting, obviously you'd want something like this

Ad Aware the machine as suggested above.

If you want a popup blocker then download the google toolbar.

My current count is well above 10k blocked. And I adaware every week.

I browse with firefox and run Spybot every so often and occasionally Adaware. I have no probs with pop ups anymore

Firefox popup blocker stops everything, sometimes you have to disable it just to see what you want, worth it though

Best way ideally would be to format the machine and start afresh, it gets to the point where the PC is beyond repair. With all the latest service packs i get no pop ups at all.
