Yes, it takes longer to warm the engine up to temp and also causes increased wear due to the extended warm up period. Definitely not a good idea.

You shouldn't run an engine without a thermostat, it will never get up to temperature, it will also ruin oil very quickly, heaters will be shit, it will run shit, it will use loads of fuel etc etc need i go on........?

The heaters even at idle when the car is up to temperature should be hot, but they will get hotter when the engine speed increases due to the water pump working harder. I'd say either your matrix is blocked or the flap in the heater box isnt closing fully.

Most modern cooling systems don't need "bleeding", otherwise the hoses would have bleed nipples. If u are worried there may be an air lock, wuite simply when the car is up to temperature feel both the hoses running to the heater matrix and if they are both hot all is well.

The heater matrix is in the heater box, heater box is under the dash, matrix is inside it and the 2 pipes go through the bulk head into the engine bay, behind the engine.

There isn't really a proper way to unblock it, most people disconnect it and pump a hose pipe through it, but it can be a bit touch and go. First things u need to do is find the pipes and see if they are both nice and hot.
