Right, the car wont start but it will turn over.
No dashboard lights, indicators, windows etc etc

Spoke to Matt on the phone and he said check the power to the ECU

I have no power to the ECU

Was driving along fine, flashed the headlights and now nothing

Where do i look, all the fuses under the bonnet are fine?

 

check the main relay under the glove box as said last night m8

 

I swapped all the relays in turn for one i know works and still nothing???

Is there anyway to check a relay???

 

not that i know of

ok unplug the main relay, and find the 2 thickest wires on the plug (the bit on your other hand, lol)

now bridge them out (so no relay is used) and see if that makes any difference

 

oh

repaeat same again on the fuel pump relay aswell

 

How do i know which is the main relay (Im shit with electrics )

 

there are 2 yellow ones, main relay has no fuse on the same feed, the fuel pump has a fuse next to it..

also if that don't work

check the phase and crank sensors

 

These relays are connected to the loom i take it

This happened on my car I know it is VERY different to a degree, was driving along flashed headlights to let someone across, I lost all cabin electrics, radio dash lights, also found all exterior lihts were shot no indicators either or brake lights... car still drove though... turned out to be my fusebox, which is obviously a common problem on escorts, and easily removed to inspect, dunno about yours though Im afraid

If you have no ignition lights I.E no ignition feed then your ECU will have no power.....you need to find why there is not ignition feed to anything....

 

if you aint got all of them then the problem is way before the ignition relay m8 , all the ignition relay is for is the power side of the engine , not for the wipers and indicators etc etc , you need to look at main supply to the fuse box and or ignition switch , even though the car turns over , this may suggest that the 3rd sector of the ign switch works and also the power in from the battery but says nothing about accesory (pos 1 ) and ign on (pos 2) time to get the test light out and remove a few covers and cowls !!

If your crap with electrics and are not confident with what your doing get an auto electrician to look at it.
The price he would charge is minimal compared to the damage you can do linking things out at random.

i had similar thing few weeks back, flashed the lights and the whole thing cut out, turned out to be one of the wires goin to the pos on the battery, stripped it down, new connecter and good as new. well it was the engine blew up

All sorted now thanks to Shings

He came over and we tested most of the things that need testing.
Took the steering cowl off and he had a good route about and spotted a Pink wire had broke off a Fuse connector Reconnected and taped it up and now she is running fine

Left it running and gave everywhere a good shake of the loom etc and all was fine

So BIG BIG thanks to Jake for helping me out Cheers Buddy

now go remove the tape, split the wire again, and solder it you bodging bast !!!

Matt- its allright theres a fuse holder and the wire had removed its self from the end of this. Recrimped and back on. Tape just for 100% good mesure to stop it going anywhere again.
