has any1 changed there standard rs turbo clutch pedal for the later mk5 escort adjustable one. If so how did you go about the conversion and how easy was it?

done it on my old one works well but only real benefit is if you have a paddle clutch fitted

 

when you say it works well, what difference did you notice compared to before ?

ive just ordered a new part from fords as mines bust and the car is undrivable

 

well i got the old pedal out and b4 i fit the new one i wanted to make sure i do it right. would i be right in saying that the spring from the old pedal is for the automatic adjustment and it wont be needed on my new pedal??? i just fit the cut quadrant as is without any spring????

 

its just i have done everything they say on the ap racing site but they dont mention anything about actually fitting the new pedal

 

Put the MK 5 pedal in my RST, much easier than replacing the automatic adjustment on the MK 4 pedal.

 

Make sure you cut the tab off the new mk5 pedal otherwise it will not work properly.

 

One piece of advise for anyone taking this on.

For the 5 minutes that it takes, remove the drivers seat!! It is a very fiddly job to put the pedal cluster back together and being able to lay on your back comfortably will allow you to make a nicer job of it and prevent you getting a dis-orientation headache!!

Besides you can have a little kip halfway through the job if you want.

 

yes this has to be done and also you need that m8 locknut thats mentioned on the website

To right...its a right pain in the arse to do!!

Especially when you flick the clips of the end of the pivot rod and they whack you in the face

I am in the process of changin the quadrant on my stepsons mk 6 td, deffo agree with fiddly, am tryin to get the circlip back on, air is blue in the car.
