Default the cos started hunting this morning!!!!!

out of the blue this morn started her up and rev....rev......rev......rev.....rev..... then idles perfectly, but if i touch the throttle does it agian then idles perfect????

any ideas people?????

throttle position sensor would be my first port of call.

take the iscv off and give it a clean with carb cleaner,normally does the job.

most likely cause is base idle speed not set correctly.
unplug the idle valve, adjust the idle speed with the screw in the bottom of the throttle housing to 850-900rpm - when you plug the valve back in it shouldn't change the idle speed, if it does then the base idle is still set too low. The idle valve should only be active to maintain idle speed when there is load on the engine, eg. fans, lights, aircon etc.

its not like ive had loads of trouble with it, ive never had a cossie before and everytime it makes an odd noise i shit myself!! this is the only place were people understand that!!! so if you hate my car fuck off and post somewhere else!!!

thanks for all the usefull reply people!!! could someone point me in the direction of the idle speed control valve!!! i cant find it!!!! is it normally on the airbox?? it was on my rs2000!! but theres a cone filter!!!! or am i looking in tottaly the wrong place

Hunting usually means yuor engine is going to explode, so if starts doing it again, switch it off, get out and run like fook.

James - cossie was too much money sat on the drive for 90% of the year.

MR2 is a turbo, is about to be stage 3 cossie fast and handles twice as well.

Pon, nope, still not working. will have to try with a new sensor methinks. tried ignition amp off Colas as well, but nada.

spose i can let you off as its a turbo!!! you say it handles twice as nice....... not too sure bout that one!!! dont deny it may handle better but not that much!!!!!!!!!
