Default tool question

right

after having serviced my brothers car on sunday i noticed that half my tools seem to be missing or broken. i have put aside some money to buy some new ones, and a decent chest to keep them all in

my question is this

i have a decent socket set, so dont need one of these, but am lacking in most others, will buy a new matching screwdriver set, just wondering what else you consider important to own.

so just name some tools you consider invaluable, and i'll add them to my list

cheers guys

rory

p.s. if anyonw knows of any good brands, other than snap-on (too expensive) and mac could you mention them please.

Same here - good gear.

Ratchet spanners have got to be worth a buy, as have the unusual things like a pick-up tool and mirror on a stick

Have you got big enough sockets for getting hub nuts off etc...?

also have you considered getting a compressor and using air tools?

Argos do a good SIP air tool kit that gets you started..

I couldn't do without a half inch to 3/4 socket convertor and a chain oil filter removal tool

I'll check the compressor I use but its only a 1.5HP with slightly under sized tank. It does the job but you do have to stop occasionally and let it fill the tank back up.
