Help - 1.8 diesel in a fiesta/escort/mondeo people please...
where is the hole on the block that allows me to insert the locking pin to get the crank to TDC?

Gracie it is a bitch to get at and you will need to move alternator out of way and it is above the bracket facing towards front of car.HTH

already done my good man, alternator was still in place as there is a porthole above it to gain access

normally aspirated, doesn't make any difference apart from on mondys the alternator is on the other side of the engine

Take it you've made yourself (or got one already) that locking key thingy?
I'm sure you stick a drill bit somewhere too, but can't remember as it's been mths since I last popped my van bonnet!

borrowed a locking set from a friend, timed it all up and fired iot up first time
not bad for a cambelt failure at 80mph
