I wasted a Tuscan S in my escos last year on the M62. Think its got more to do with which car you'd fell more comfortable driving quick cause i've seen what a TVR does when it leaves the tarmac.....not nice.

Whats the power to weight of the cossie and the tuscan?

400 at wheels = what? 450 bhp. What does a 2wd saphire way?

What speed does a tuscan S get down brunters? 400 wheels saph would get about 180 down brunters.

I'm surprised u lot think it wouldnt be a close race?

Doing 180 and accelerating hard are two VERY different things mate.

Ive pulled away quite quickly from a Diablo that was closing in hard on the back of my 3dr, and im sure as hell my car couldnt do the 200+ the Lambo can...

They very fast motors, but not that incredible against the clock.

Mate - don't get me wrong. I love em!

Now that TVR have stopped talking complete bollocks when it comes to performance figures they just list the top speed of the Tuscan S as 160mph+

Usually a Tuscan breaks down before you can get to grips with it.

So it's a dry only supercar?

Right, cos I always assumed every other supercar (Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche etc) you didn't have to make THAT big a deal about driving in adverse weather

Top speed and acceleration times don't make a supercar for me, otherwise we'd be having to class Rod's saff as a supercar!

Ive been to two Supercar Top Speed days last summer, one at Brunters, one at Woodbridge.

Ive got the results right in front of me.

No TVR even got to 175mph on either, not even modified 4.5litre Cerbera's.

Between 155 and 172 for all of them.

190 on the clock maybe, but the timing gear says otherwise.

400bhp at WHEELS at AVA is 500bhp+ at FLYWHEEL on any other rollers it seems, a big difference to your average "400bhp" spec Cossie.

And a big difference in torque between the two cars too.

Very true steve id like to see a proper race where u know both partys are really trying.Cos i know on normal roads the tuscan is dangerious even along the strait mine ends up side ways if u just plant it.Ive let loadsa cars pass me when messing about cos i dont want to die lol.

That's on the 25+mph optimistic TVR speedo . You will be able to get the "true" speed of the TVR from the Pistonhead's website from that day .

Evo magazine took one to the Autobahn to get some top speed figures. Suffice to say it did an indicated 190mph (166mph on the Datron timing equipment ) and then it fell apart (splitter broke off ).

Well read what I said about the two proper top speed events I went to.

Unlike the TVRs speedo, the timing gear dont lie

Im sure a Saff that managed 400 at WHEELS at AVA would rince a Tuscan, and 4th gear onwards racing isnt all that much about weight either, so there goes the TVRs main strong point.

The RUF cars at the top speed days I went to got 195, 189.7, and 181.5, massivley faster than all the TVRs did.

Be prepared to be disappointed with what the Datron timing gear tells you .

first time ive visited car forums... always thought it was full of little boys who dont know about cars.... this comment from ECOSNIGE is just silly and restored my previous thoughts, i was'nt going to post anything until i saw this comment... im not going to boast about what i do for a living and what sort of cars i encounter daily but you need to research on charicteristics of acceleration. just because a car does 180 does'nt mean its going to pull hard all the way. you only talk about 0-60, what about 100-150, 100-180, 150-180 and all those in different gears aswel. read top gear mag or evo mag, might help. trust me pn this but alot of supercar owners tuners etc take their hats of to the almighty COSWORTH.
