jake, just read the ad for the car and looked at photos, only thing worrying me is it doesn't come with spare front end panels and them seats look narrow for your broader frame

If the shell is seamwelded it will have been done for a reason, whats the history Jake any idea ?
To me its another one of them 'Spiky' cars, looks good until you realise its totally impracticable. You won't be able to park it anywhere without the pikeys following you, the chavs wanna race you, and the nostalgic people stopping you and telling you its just a copy and not a real ex Malcolm Wilson car.
To run it on the road you will have to insure it, it won't be grouped so you will have to find a specialist insurer who will insist on certain extras being added to it, and it being garaged etc.
All that taken into account and with no history I think its slightly over priced, but Im not in the market for one, and you are.
If it comes with lots of spares and any form of history (build pics - old log books, any competition past etc etc) then it may only just start to interest me at 1.5k off that price.

it comes with next to no history and no spares far as i know. but at the moment its the type of car jakes looking for and not much else about in the price range
the spec looks quite impressive on paper at least, its all plumbe din for fire outers, genuine cossie dash, all alloy bits and the cage etc so it is ready to go.
but i dont think hes looked at the insurance side of it-as you say thats a specialist job now whereas a standard esc cos wouldnt be.
tricky

heres the full spec of the car, worth the money in my opinion(but i'm no expert whatsoever on cosworths!!!)
Built for corperate days and track days so it has never actually seen any competition . With the emphasis being on fun hence only built in 2wd form but could easily be converted back to 4wd.
Extremely straight and honest shell , seamwelded finished in Michelin Pilot Works rally replica colours. Full multipoint cage , X-diagonals , rear triangulation , Sparco strut brace etc.
Cosworth engine , unknown mods. but runs very well , big dump valve , just had new race engine wiring loom fitted(cost £1500+) Cone air filter , Alloy header tank , Alloy Radiator , Bilstein 2 1/4 adj platform struts , Plumbed in Extinguisher , all lines inside , Sparco Pro2000 seats , Willans 4 point belts , Compomotive wheels , Original Cosworth dash , comes complete with private plate .
Overview
This car will need some modifications doing for anyone wanting to do any serious competiton work , but is perfect for track days sprints etc. as it is. It certainly looks the part and is fantastic value for money . Escort Cosworths are a cult car and will certainly go up in value !
£6500

Looks to be written by a trader who knows nothing about the car and is looking to make 1.5k on the deal Tricky.
I have seen similar go for around the 5k mark I originally tagged it at.
Don't let my mutterings put you off Jake.... if your happy with it and in the market for one etc....
Just dont expect to make ANY money on it at resale time, and be prepared for the long hassle of shifting it on.
As Doug posted, other cars for similar money are out there...
Heads and tails best of 3 wins....
and if its close take it to 5, then 7 then 9 etc until you get the decision you want

I know who is selling the car mate and he has a good reputation although he is a little expensive with his cars you wont get ripped off by him
I think the car is cheap to be honest as you couldnt build a escoss track car for anywhere near that kind of money .
If you like it mate then buy it
if i was looking for another track toy i would pay that for it without a second thought ( after inspection )
Paul
