Crank Saga who right Mark or Experts
Went to see my Crank have a full dimension check, Crack Tested & polished today.
After inspection it was declared within 'as new' Spec & certainly looked as new.
The Block will be changed from Mountune Spec & Mark is Speccing it himself & getting it machined, taking into account the new 950bhp Spec.
Dont ask because he wont tell & he is footing some of the development costs.
The SM2 & injectors will be changed & if costs allow a full vibration analysis of the complete assy to give this Block as much chance as possible.
The boys done well. Thanks Mark

From: Wiltshire, Bath, chippenham area!
gonna be VERY impressive again!
with the vibration checking, if you dont already use someone
there is a company called Vibration free, near-ish to Mark
the guy there used to do work on RS500s back in the day.
and does work in sattellites. Supposidly to be the best vibration specialist (oh er!) In Europe (and a race car fanatic too!)
hope all goes well!

this is realy getting to me, I moved from interford due to tuners and home tuners taking shots, or tuners reading somthing into things which are not there.
Martin for me is the most intersting engine builder with MAD next, Karl is a engine mapper which ford would be proud of and same with Stu.
Ade and Martin are in different area's to Karl for me. But why is Rod having so many digs, results prove more than his words

ia m sorry but i am very unbais
and that title is a dig
and not fair either everyone would ahve had an opinion about wether the crank was ok or not
well done mark was right but in my eyes he is an expert so that just means his opinion/ guess was correct just as anyone elses could have been
would this thread of been started if mark would have been wrong
i very much doubt it childish

Ive never seen a block fail without harming the crank, but in fairness i think most block failures ive seen the crank went first anyway.
Certainly very lucky to have got away with it IMHO in those circumstances.
I can't believe some of the comments by the usual MAD crew
. I don't usually post on these kind of threads, as it isn't worth it, but IF you think that it wasn't ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for the crank to be completely tested after such a catastrophic failure, then you are stupid personified.
The fact that the crank IS true is down to the strength of the crank, BUT it had to be checked. Failure to do so would have been down-right negligent on an engine of such value (the new one), especially given the stresses it would and has been put to.
So instead of snide digs, think for yourselves for once in your life and just congratulate Rod on the luck he has had that the crank wasn't banana shaped given what happened to the block....
I salute Mark for being man enough to back down and realise the potential for another catastrophic failure, if the crank had been mullered in the failure of the block
.
I for one second do not doubt that this will be another MAD year of record setting with the new engine
.
Forget 215mph, rock on for 220

AWEOME

I think that comment was VERY insulting to Karl in terms of how narrow it made his knnowledge sound.
He knows about engines, period, not just mapping them.
He makes loads of bespoke components, and he is one of the most respected people around for cylinder head work.
Just cause he maps well doesnt mean its all he does, same goes for Stu, he can build you a 600bhp engine quite happily too, not just map one!
ALL the people you listed have a good breadth of knowledge from what ive seen, its pointless trying to pidgeon hole them.
I agree it was a little low, his engine building is top notch and a great mapper i did not mean you say mapper only, all I am saying is Ade and Martin are pushing the envelope.
I dont think Martin even maps his engines, so they are all different
I am trying to stop the back biting thats all

Mike what is that statement meant to mean, The crank was always going back to be checked, There are many other things being done and checked but we dont tell people what we are doing and why,
That would be stupid and not in keeping with my secret nature

Rod, good luck with the new engine.
As for the digs from everyone, however, why can't why all just get along? Everyone is entitled to their opinion of who is good at what, and who is the best, but what's the point in trying to push that opinion on everybody else?
