Piston rod gone
Do i have to get the crankshaft out and regrind it when there is almost no marks in/on it?
The piston rod is gone no doubt about it and so are bearings. I changed the bearings in a hope that it would work, but it didnt and now it ratles like a mofo. I was stupid not to check tha piston rod and now i can see that it has been grinded to a bigger size
So i would realy like to know what to do next.
I know that the best thing is to get the shaft out and regrind it but i dont have the time for such a big opperation and i realy need the car, so can i "just" change the piston rod and bearing whithout it all going to helle again?

What would be a nifty mate?
By the way, is is realy nesesary to regrind the crank when there is very litle show of a bearing being grinded to bits on it, the rod is dead and the bearing offcourse, but the crank seems fine enough i think, its not like it has deep grinding marks in it, just very few small ones............

Best thing to do to be honest is to check and measure then you'll know for sure. If you havn't got the equipment to do it. Take it to your engineering shop. I've not known the rods to be oversize. Just the crank. Might be wrong but if the rods were oversized that would weaken them. You'll notice the difference in the car once everything is how it should be. I've just rebuilt mine from scratch. Had the crank reground £60.00 new oversize bearings for the crank and rods £40.00 and the car is now as smooth as a new one. No rattles or anything. Well worth it.
