Default 24V cosworth vs Saff Cossie

Got a debate going with my m8 at the moment, he's building a 3dr replica with a 24v cosworth lump in it and he seems to think its gonna do my 330bhp saff cossie..

Wot do U guys think?

As i have both cars i think i can comment

It will not be the walk over you are expecting but you will beat him.

You will find it hard around town, slowish driving to keep up but on a motorway you will win.

Steve.

even a pub 330bhp will kill it unles you drive like a girl

straight lines a 24v will just about keep with a shit stage1 (ie 240ish bhp)

when you're taking high 200s low 300s its just not fair on the 24v.

Oh no, the 24v blinkers strike again

He will only even remotley keep up if your engine is wank, or you dont understand the concept of changing down a gear and powerbands.

steve, even if he dont change down he'll still get wasted

me and max (Rouse 302R with normal stage3 stuff) decided to have a little tear up on the A127 once... both started in 5th gear at 40mph... (i figured if we did this i might actually stand a chance)

...by 80 he was hammering past me like i was going backwards

I agree, I was having fun with a mate with a good stage 1 280ish and on the tight stuff you can stay with it, but on a open duel carriage way hmmm if you can keep it away over 100mph you are doing well.

A 330 bhp will eat you in a 24v

but then the cossie driver would know that the 24 had some secret weapons tucked away

the 24's are about as quick as you can go on an affordable budget without getting into the world of BIG power, i span the granny the other night in the wet without even trying but my old dear was freaking out as the traffic was going past and we were facing the wrong way on the duel carriageway

for that sort of shit 4wd totaly rules!!!!!!!!!!!

The 24v conversion is cracking to be fair. Jims car goes very well and I was impressed how readily available the torque was.

A Cossie especially a Stage3 one will waste the 24v though.

ain't missed a beat mate
other than the rust on the arches it's as good as gold for everything else (although i spent the best part of day replacing the recycle valve under the wipers because it had rusted away to absolutly nothing )
i'm seriously considering a filer for it next, and with the poly bushes it has made a marked imporvement in the handling, even going orund the outside of a zetec-s festa the other day, a good thing i was in front of him because he understeering into the scenery
