depends if you want to retain the "grill" or use a pice of plastic/metal bent/cut to shape?

id like to reomve the vent and keep that incase i want to put the car standard again.

id like a metal plate (black) for a water and oil gauge.

Thats what was in my orion when i bought it, not the best but could be made to look very good. It was done with IIRC 5mm MDF. I've seen 3 gauges put here before, must be a tight squeeze though....

where did you get the gauge holder? did you make it?

As i said, from what i remember it was made of 5mm MDF, with material stapled over. The colour looks crap cos the car originally had one of them RANK BROWN/BEIGE dashes. You can see at the sides there are two lugs in the dash, and the MDF has been cut to fit, i personally would of got a router and channelled the back out to clear, but retaining the shape on the top. Easy peasy though

mines like that bit its for the boost gauge and is made of thinish aluminium and covered with black material that is patterned to match the dash.
