Default buying back from insurance

iv just had my 3dr crashed into by a safeway lorry and most likely going to write car off, the damage isnt that bad considering what hit me!!

Has anyone else had this happen to them and they then bought car back from insurance and repaired it themselves??

at what cost was it?

As far as I know, the rules changed a while back. If the damage is Cat A or B. Only a registered dismantler can buy it. So just hope it goes down as a C or D

If you were injured and are getting a solicitor to process your claim you are usually guaranteed to get the salvage back...

Not sure if you are just claiming against the others insurance though.....
