but this morning I find ive got a pm from a MOD telling me my sig is to big,

I cant stop laughing, they have said if i dont do something about it, then it will be removed for good.

From what I can see its the same size as everyone elses.

Im so so sorry if my sig is the only thing to worry about,

Oh by the way its on the smallest setting/sizing already.

Is it time to find another forum that worrys about cars instead of sig pics ?????????????

Here are the allowable sizes:
Max siggy physical Size: = 550 x 150
Max siggy Disk size: = 25600bytes (25k)
Max Avatar size: = 105 x 105
Max Avatar Disk size: = 5120bytes (5K)
The only exception to this rule is banner traders are allowed 102400bytes (100K) signatures images.
Animations are allowed providing the criteria above are strictly adhered too and no strobe effects are used.


Your sig is 36262 bytes and the maximum allowed is 25600. So your sig is too big in size of bytes. Some people have bigger.longer/wider sigs but all conform to the allowed bytes size. Its not the visual size of the sif that the mod was on about but the byte size

Hope this helps. There are people on here that will re-do your sig for you in the correct size

Just optimize it in Photoshop to drop the size down, job done

The point is that if everyone had whatever size sigs they wanted, it would take forever to load the pages.....them people would be moaning about the site speed.

Dont feel like you are the only one mate as people are always getting told about it, Just one of those things im afraid.

Alot of sites dont even let you have any sigs

Shame you feel that way, let me know how you get on with speed and layout, and if peoples massive sig pics start to annoy you as you have to scroll past them time and time again to find the posts....

Remember peeps, with 50 posts per page, and potentially 50 sepereate siggys, a newbie has to download 1.25meg of siggys alone to read a topic, even at our current 25k limit... not amusing on dial up i assure you.

Thats why we need to keep rules. Imagine that with the 2500posts a day we do.... that equates to over 64meg of siggys alone if a user reads every new post on here each day... adds up doesnt it? Imagine if we let you have any size you like, maybe a meg each... add that up and see how many newbies stick around then!!

Someone has to look after this free service for you people, so dont shout at em when they try to help for teh good of everyone eh?

Do a poll mate, quite a bloody few do, you will be VERY surprised.

Either way though mate, flush all your cache and history properly and then go visit a full PF topic page with your ADSL line and see how long it takes to finally stop loading and jumping around... you WILL be surprised mate.

If you simple dont understand computers, you cant use that as an excuse for moaning about people and slagging the site and its webteam off can you?

OH and i know what you mean,,,,,,, infact i think that sigs should be scaled down on the second post per page as standard to save me seeing some sigs,,,, aswell as banning people from COPYING sigs as then i forget who im replying too

 

Unsure on costs, but a few UK rural areas dont have ADSL yet, and lots in scotland and wales i believe. So nowt to do with costs...

As for siggy's, we tried a system once where the siggy was only shown on your first post on a page, i liked it...

i was thinking about going back on dial-up as i aint got the time apart from sundays to use the PC and tbh im wasting the b/b i have as i NEVER download anything


its the pictures pm photobucket that remind me of what it was like before so i dont change

 

as he said, i'm on 56k dial-up for two reasons, 1 it's not available in my area & 2 this only costs £5 a month & as i only really use the net for car forums and porn i'm not really complianing!

However, sometimes large threads on here does take a while to load up for me!

when a forum as big as this has avatars and sigs it takes a damn sight longer than if it didnt have them ie migweb is probs about same size and you cant have either, it also makes reading a damn sight easier and quicker

Spot on and if this were not enforced the less computer literate people would be having 1MB photos from their digi cams dumped straight into a siggy. We are behind with broadband rates here in oz and with a global user base, it isnt just UK users. The UK is worldly known for being ahead in the technology race with very quick connections.

Mod was just doing his job mate
