Tyre size you should be using 195/40/16

www.mytyres.co.uk

I wouldn't drop more than 25mm-35mm or the handling will suffer as a result. Avoid G-Max as they are beyond shonky. New standard RS dampers and Eibach springs or Koni T/A's set soft with matched springs

That's my opinion and others may well have their own though

What is it with the severe lowering of cars

If i take my springs off, will the handleing suffer?

Problem is too many people confuse handling with cornering. Slamming the car into th eweeds will make it corner well it will however shaft the handling.

It's an arguement I can't be bothered to have so just leave the kids to it

Nobody said if i slam my car will it handle worse.
I think that some people just like the slammed look and not really bothered how it will handle.
More so on small powered cars as the owners like more 'show' than 'go'.
Where as on high powered cars its all to do with handlig and braking etc

As for the original post, if you want it to handle well stick with a 35 drop.if you want it to look the nuts drop it 50 -60.

if ya lower a car all ya doing is making the car stylish but also ur lowering the centre of gravity this improves the handaling of the vehicle cos are your roll axis is a different set up
