looked at a S1 last night. being an earlier model and being dark i couldnt see much, im going back tonight with the money incase i defo like it or i can leave a deposit.

What should i be looking for on the S1...problem wise??

only rust i saw was a spec on the front of the bonnet and a slight patch on the rear lower panel.

solar locks.....new turbo...new gear box....new koni adjustables.....and new magnex exhaust

Main thing mate is to get a better look in daylight, that sounds abou right money for a good tidy S1 but get underneath and poke about chassis legs, boot floor, floor pans etc, enquire about service history, last timing belt things like that and you should be ok!

Could even try and put the reg up here to see if anyone knows the car - good luck

batt tray, inner wings, outer sills, rear quaters next to the rear wheels that is, outer sills where they join the floor, rear chassis legs, front floor pan near the front speaker covers ( lift the carpet if you have to mate after all its your money and if its ok the owner wont mind) lift the rear seats and have a look under there aswell and where the sun roof slides into mate.

i think that just about it

thanks everyone.

spent an hour going over it again last night, checking and double checking.

took it out and listened to the engine cold and warm.

good 25mile drive home. Felt great pulled beter than my S2 did.

i paid £3.5k for the S1 last night, b-reg. Been scouring the car this morning and its in superb condition, just a scab under the left headlight.
and a scab appering on the tail gate.

all original panels.........will get some pics up soon.
love this over my S2, a true classic car!!
