doug,
you misted one point, your rs500 total only adds up to 496 built,
thats 4 short!
so 392 black
52 moonstone
56 white including the four proto types all still around
so in the end we have 500

heres one for you,
how long did it take for ford to sell the rs500 cars from launch in there show rooms,
A 2 WEEKS
B 4 WEEKS
C 12 WEEKS
answers on a post card please,
why did we have so many black ones, simple all dealers had to pre order cars and most ordered more black ones,
so blame the ford dealers for low numbers of white and moonstone ones,

The actual "production" run (in other words cars produced for selling on to customers through the dealership) was 392 in Black, 52 in Moonstone and 52 in White a total of 496 cars.
BUT before the Tickford production run FOUR protoypye RS500's were built to complete Ford engineering tests. At a cost of a little over £ 500,000 (half a milloin pounds!) Ford executed all durability testing and the manafacturing on these FOUR prototypes. The prototypes went through 100,000 miles of endurance testing that included 6,200 miles each at 140 MPH !!!!

I very much doubt that the 4 white prototypes were ever offered for sale.........Unless anyone can shed any light on this ?????????
also the 4 prototypes were also built by Tickford not Ford as is commonly believed, they were built at Austin Martin Tickford's Milton Keynes facility supervised by Ford, the main run of 496 cars was completed at Austin Martin Tickford's Bedworth facility.
