Default Best induction kit?

Im after and induction kit. I didnt want to go this route to start with but, as u can see in the pic my airfilter cover has been put on the wrong way:-

i tried to turn it the correct way but the space where it should sit is taken up by the alarm & immobiliser unit. Rather than move that im just going to get an induction kit.

So, which do u recommend piperX, K&n, Ramair etc

K&N Too be honest there isn't much between any of the cone filters. Just make sure it has plenty of cold air getting at it

IMO MFi RST's are loads better without an Induction Kit.

You are making a filter choice around where your Alarm siren is positioned?

Personally, I would seriously consider that before you do it. Have you not considered putting the Alarm siren behind the heater box? That way you get the benefit of a great filter method and you hide your Siren away in the process. Everyone's a winner!!

air charge temperatures, in the performance Ford air filter test they recorded ACTs and the cone filter recorded the highest temps. I know it was on a rolling road and the results would be different on the road but i don't think they would be by much.

If i were you i would move it, and at the very least the paint the holes, but u could have a spot of mig weld put in the holes and touch it up like that, they'll rust either way anyway if its been drilled it will rust sometime. You know it makes sense to move it

You could load it with grease.....but all the shit and bits of grit are going to stick to it, then your going to come along with your nice clean rag on a weekend to clean it, the grease and dirt are going to get on the rag, then before you know it you're scratched your paint up and spread the grease everywhere

Get a touch up pen or something, DON'T be brave and buy an aerosol we've all seen the tragic results when someone thinks they can do a good spray job with an aerosol

Thats what i would do personally, you can very lightly file the holes to clean the edges up then put a bit of paint on with a touch up pen or a brush and it should look alright. If your really fussy (like me) you could put a spot of seam sealer (or even better filler if your feeling brave) and then touch it up.........endless possibilities

i know!. touch up paint. then kurust, then two rubber gromits to fill the holes. easiest option i can think off. cheers for pointing out the obvious that i obviously didnt think about re the grease

Obviously wasnt that obvious then was it

As long as the holes are nice and clean and de-burred the paint should stick and it will be ok, like everything preperation is they key to success

De-burred...basically remove all the sharp edges etc the screws will have left, worth getting a small round file in there and giving the edges a clean up

GCSE's....don't even get me started, cut a long story short i can spell FUDGE with mine
