try taking the clocks out again and making sure all the sticky tape like conductor stuff has been pushed down to connect all around the back of the clocks as this started to peel on mine taped em down again and all is minty

Very common thing on Mk3 Fiesta's? Try above, if not you will have to test whther you have a wiring fault or not.

I'm not actually too sure what pollocks is refering to but then i dont have a fiesta. As for the coil wiring, it does pick up off the negative side of one of the windings, just probe both the green wires it will only be on one.

It's unlikely to be wiring to be honest though....possibly the multi plug that connects the main engine loom to the car loom...

follow the injector rail wiring loom, you should see an 8 pin multi plug clipped to a metal plate on the inlet manifold. Wiring as such doesn't tend to play up for no reason, especially things like this, usually the more powerful items if any. So your looking for all the weak points in the chain, so as pollocks said, the back of the clocks, and this wiring multi plug which after the years get damp and corrode etc.

Probably just later clocks. Whether they are from an EFI or not will make a difference, but only to what it reads. Will still work in some way. Have you continuity tested the wires and checked for 12v and earth?
