Default play in propshaft centre bearing!!

ive got a bit of play in my propshaft centre bearing on my 2wd saff.Ive just called fords who said they dont sell the bearing or rubber donut on there own anymore so id have to buy a whole shaft...yeah right.,but ive phoned up another car spares place and they said it could be the bearing that has seized causing the rubber donut to wear out or could just be the rubber donut itself.Does this sound about right to you and what have you guys experienced in the past.

get it up on ramps and grap hold of the propshaft either side of the centre bearing and push it up and down...mine had a load of play in it and the rubber donut is being squashed out the side......when you pull away you will get a bit of a shudder and maybe a knock on gear changes.
